A LIFELONG LOVE OF ANIMALS
It started with a pair of binoculars

It started with a pair of binoculars
My love for animals and wildlife has been lifelong. My grandmother gave me my first pair of binoculars when I was four years old so that we could birdwatch together, and I spent a lot of my childhood holidays on the Isle of Mull in Scotland searching for golden eagles, otters and puffins.
Decades later, my lovely children gave me a rather grown-up camera, with which I have learned to take some half-decent photos — of birds in particular. You can see some of them on my Instagram page. I find spending time outside, quiet and still but alert to the sounds and movement of nature, immensely enjoyable and rewarding.

GIVING BACK
Volunteering on the South Coast
Since moving down to the Shoalhaven area a couple of years ago, I have become a member of Wildlife Rescue South Coast, and I volunteer weekly at Mudgeroo Wombat and Wildlife Refuge in Falls Creek.
Time spent caring for injured and orphaned wildlife has deepened my respect for animals as individuals, each with their own temperament, their own boundaries and their own way of moving through the world.

THE METHOD
Let Animals Lead® Method of Reiki
Let Animals Lead®
Method of Reiki

When I came across Kathleen Prasad's Let Animals Lead® method of Reiki, it felt like the perfect addition to my practice. In a world where animals — even our much-loved domestic animals — have little agency, this method honours their sensitivities and preferences.

Nothing is forced on them.
Nothing is done to them.
Nothing is forced on them.
Nothing is done to them.
Since touch is not necessary for an animal to connect, it is only incorporated into a session if the animal seeks it. Every session is about holding a nonjudgmental space of acceptance with an open mind and a compassionate heart.
Rather than focusing on what maybe wrong or trying to fix a problem, the Let Animals Lead® method of Reiki gives animals the opportunity to relax deeply into a state of peace for their own self-healing whilst honouring their choices and their wisdom.
